Keynote Title: Semiotics and Graphic Communication: Meaning Matters.

Dr. Evripides Zantides is a Professor of Semiotics and Graphic Communication at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, and Dean of the School of Fine and Applied Arts, at the Cyprus University of Technology. His professional activities include presenting and publishing research papers in academic journals and at international conferences on Semiotics, Graphic Design Education, Typography, and Visual Communication. He has also participated with distinguished work in refereed Art and Graphic Design biennials, as well as other international exhibitions. Moreover, he serves as a reviewer for scientific journals, accreditation bodies, conference and Art & Design evaluation committees. He is the country delegate of Cyprus for the Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI), co-founder of the Cyprus Poster Triennial (CPT) and the International Conference on Semiotics of Culture and Visual Communication (ICSCVC), as well as a member of the Cyprus Association of Graphic Designers and Illustrators (CAGDI), the International Association for Semiotic Studies (IASS-AIS), and the Hellenic Semiotic Society (HSS). His research focuses on the application of semiotic theories to the visualisation of verbal language through fine and applied art, employing image, text/typography, and sound. He is also the founder and director of the Semiotics and Visual Communication Research Lab at the Cyprus University of Technology www.svclab.com.
