Dr. Arafat Al-Naim is a graphic artist, designer, educator, and a prominent figure within the international art and design community. He holds a BFA, MFA, PhD in graphic arts, and an MST in art education, reflecting a career encompassing extensive creative endeavors, academic leadership, and global partnerships. His graphic artwork has gained recognition through exhibitions around the globe, with pieces included in esteemed collections such as the Spencer Museum of Art in Kansas, the Portland Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art Wales, and Nord Art – Kunstwerk Carlshütte in Germany. Dr. Al-Naim has received several accolades for his impact on visual communication, including the Outstanding Contribution to Education at the Middle East Education Leadership Awards in 2016 and the title of Best Professor in Design at the Asian Education Leadership Awards in both 2014 and 2017.

As a professor at the American University in the Emirates and a former Dean of the College of Design, Dr. Al-Naim has significantly influenced design education in MENA and beyond. He is the visionary behind the Emirates International Poster Festival (EIPF) and International SYMPOSIODESIGN—Amman and chairs the International Design Conference (IDC-DXB).

His research focuses on visual studies and the intersection of artificial intelligence and graphic design, particularly generative design tools and experimental typography. Dr. Al-Naim explores how AI can enhance traditional design methodologies and foster innovative visual systems, advancing the integration of technology and creativity in the design field.
Dr. Al-Naim actively engages in lecturing and conducting workshops at various global institutions and events across countries such as the UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Jordan. He has also participated as a jury member for international design biennials, triennials, and competitions, in addition to serving as a consultant for Worldwide Graphic Designers (WGD).
